Robot Damashii Eva-01 Review

Posted: September 8, 2010 in Robot Damashii

Yes….. I just got it this afternoon. Couldn’t wait to rip the thing out from the box. LOL.

Well anyways, here’s my review on the RD Eva-01, it may be a pretty short one, but I wanted to do this quick as I would be going to Malacca on Thurs, tomorrow until Saturday.

Enough talking! Let’s get to the Review…. ^^

The contents of the box. As you can see, I am also using this review to try out my “white background”.

Can’t be seen clearly…. But this is the stand for the AT Field.

Comparision with my yet-to-be reviewed HGUC Zaku F2 and Revoltech Eva-01. The revo and RD version seems to be similar in size…

The hands use a similar system to those of SH Figuarts. Maybe that’s to be expected, as they are the brother or sister of the RD line as they are made by the same company…..

This looks scary….

The back of the box.

Ages 15 up. So this is a “mature” toy huh? HAHAHA!

As this figurine comes with 2 rifles, dual wielding is a possibility.

Kneeling ok!

The arm blade(Is that what they are called?) can be popped out.

High kick no problem.

Trying to recreate the scene in the movie when Shinji was about to land when he jumped from a height…. Epic fail here.

EVA KICK!

Dual daggers!

As the mouth can’t open like the Revo version, the RD version gives another head that has the mouth opened. I rather have the mouth opening mechanism…. Changing heads is a pain…

The sight of Eva tearing apart a AT field is always intimidating.

Comparing the heads, the Revo version looks more menacing while RD looks more robot-ish.

To summarize the review, I think for a price of SGD 40, it is quite a reasonable price, the Revo Eva-01 is about SGD 38 -43, around the same range too. The revo and RD versions have different color schemes as well, the RD having a flat finish, while the Revo is more of a metallic finish. I can’t really compare both and tell you which is better, as both have their own flaws and good points. I mean, I love them both. ^^

One point about this figurine that puts me off is the difficulty of exchanging option hands…. It is seriously a pain trying to pop off the hand and pop another one in. This shows that it is tight, but I don’t really like it…. Too tight…

If you should see this going for about SGD 40, maybe you would want to consider getting this… Or course, if you can get it for lesser, why not? πŸ˜€

The dual daggers pose looks like its jogging with daggers. XD

That AT-Field barrier is quite useful in creating fight scenes, one I’ve recalled is they pose G-Gundam pierces Eva-01’s field.

My fave piece has got to be that AT field!!! Good for lots of fights scenes ^^

dual wield weapons is a plus. i would have a difficult time choosing between RD and Revo version.

are those two extra horns i see? thats pretty neat since its a easy part to break!

You’re right, the RD looks really flat when it stands beside the Revoltech’s version, but that AR field is a really big plus

    looking pretty good πŸ˜€

RD looks more robot-ish…maybe because it is a robot damashi? lulz

  6. Aya says:

hm….judging from your photos, I prefer revoltech ^^

    • John says:

I think you got good points there…. Revoltech usually excel when it comes to mecha or non-human action figure… 1 of the thing i dislike with Robot Tamashii version is the size is just slightly smaller – by 1cm – and this affect the proportion as well…

  8. John says:

For Eva fans, they sure love to get this guy….
