XN Raiser WIP 01

Posted: January 2, 2010 in WIP

This XN raiser was snap fitted and left in its white original colour.

So today i decided to add colours to it!

Today i bought my bro to tuition, and also went to buy spray paints from Hobby point at kovan heartland mall.

Today my’s first time really spraying, so any tips would be welcome^^

Masking, looks horrible lol

Tis a trick i learned from 2old4toys from youtube, he used leftover sprues and tape to hold the piece to be sprayed.

Sprayed blue

Unwrapped

Hmm, some errors, nothing pen knife & alcohol can’t handle!

Moments later……

Comparison between the untouched sword and the painted sword…

Needs to be touched up a little more…….. Any tips and comments are more than welcome^^

Hm…how should I say this XD
I think there’s some problem with the masking tape. Be sure to do the masking properly before painting. I can still see the paint leaking.

Maybe you want to try sanding off the paint, then repaint this? 😀

hmmm…I advise you to buy Tamiya masking tape..Hobby point sell it for about $2-3 depend of the length

  3. Syful says:

make sure your hand movement is even, keep distance and use safety mask so you don’t inhale the fume like I did before =.=’

Ah lots of bleeding ^^ but nontheless a good start!

Get those yellow Tamiya ones, they are much better for the task. And also after you put on the tape use a toothpick of over the masking tape one more time to prevent bleeding.

Masking tape from Tamiya does wonders I tell ya..

  7. Marzz says:

Thanks for the input, guys! So everyone says that tamiya masking tape is good yea? Maybe i will get some the next time…

  8. tsukinari says:

Whoah… U already starts painting it.. mine still ongoing for color scheme to match up with my XN 00 Gundam Custom lol

Yeah.. like everyone said, main problem would be the masking tape.. that type is not really good one.. Try Tamiya Masking Tape (Yellow one) that one is good for masking ^^

Spray paint eh.. well… I cant handle spray paint, I dunno why lol… tried using Mr. Super Clear Flat but failed hardly… in the end I used Airbrush to do flat coat (with Gaianotes Flat Clear paint) ^^

btw.. I wonder why ur blog isnt in my ‘nakama’ blog roll >__<

come come joing the dark 'moe' side! *does the evil laugh* 😛

I only use the regular one after use the tamiya one (for big area and other stuffs)

its okay if u can use the spray can.. in my case my hand not taht keen to spray can lol… but theres cheap airbrush set for beginner to try, around RM250 ish complete set with paint and stuffs .. u can check it here — http://mgs2u.com/shop/browse.php?cgrfnbr=201&s=1010

  9. Zhi Jian says:

Then, where is my name on nakama?

  10. Marzz says:

@tsukinari: Hmmm… The set looks interesting….. But it shows that it has been reserved by others, plus i can’t imagine what the shipping cost will be like……..

  11. divinelight says:

Is this really your first time?
Seems the output is good. 🙂

  12. divinelight says:

    Yeah, let’s.
The seller of mine which came over told me about painting, but…

not yet… I cannot afford to lose more coins for paints T_T

  13. I’m not sure where I saw this from but you could try priming it black before applying the other colours… I’d look better that way ^^

but I think that would apply only for airbrushes only since you can control the pressure 😛

OR you could try hand painting ^^ that should work…

    • Marzz says:

Prime huh? Never tried before, must go buy then…
I would try handpainting, but the paints + thinner + brush would cost a bomb…… Wait till i save up enough…
