HG Zaku warrior WIP 01

Posted: December 20, 2009 in WIP

And straight after doing my imcomplete keyblade, i decided to do up my Zaku from the seed destiny series using Chubbybots’ No paint method Ver.L(l being lazy LOL) and rockleelotus’ no paint-silver marker-alcohol weathering method.(Sorry for helping you put a name for ur method, Rocklee!)

All parts freshly cut, awaiting cleanup.

After 3+ hours of sanding, weathering……. This is what i end up with….

I am overall pleased with it, but i think that sanding the dark green didn’t turn out too well, i sanded the back of the dark green, not the front yet.. The weathering is not that obvious as well because of the dark green colour of the zaku………==

lol that is a long name you came up with šŸ˜›
the sanded parts on the light green came out good, but i see what you mean about the dark green parts. is the done with fine sandpaper? when i was sanding the blue on my wing zero it looked kinda bad too, using some black for weathering on the edges will definitely make it look better!

Ah i see… Time to get a real touch marker then!

  3. moemoekyun says:

what you can do with real touch marker

  4. chubbybots says:

Haha good job mate šŸ˜€ hmm what grit did you used until for the dark green? I used until 1500 grit. And follow what rocklee does for his colored parts ^^ Black will make the parts very nice. Just don’t get overboard like what I did recently lol šŸ˜€

  5. Marzz says:

    @ moemoekyun: ah…… now i can see, very nice…. Using the markers…

@ chubbybots: For the dark green i used til 600, didn’t dare to sand that much lol, 1500? thats alot, i dun have 1500==

you can find the tamiya sandpapers at guan hock lee the RC shop starts at 400, 600 & 1000, y’know the shop ought to pay me commission for advertising their shop…

Lol, chubby and rocklee has become our gunpla tutor here ^_^
I ever tried weathering by a 2B pencil, just randomly colored around the area, then I rubbed it gently with my fingers, turned out quite good. And you can erase if you don’t want.

  7. chubbybots says:

Haha no heathorn not really tutor just giving suggestions šŸ˜€ 2b pencil?? Man I got to try that out. But did you flat coat it before you use the 2b pencil? Maybe can also use 4b, 4h ….lol…then there are colored pencils….haha!!!

  8. rockleelotus says:

@heathorn: lol im not much of a tutor, still have much too learn getting back into gunpla. i just like experimenting with strange techniques ^^

    i use graphite pencil to add a nice metallic shine! but flat coat is requires or it smudges, still need to coat my WZC ^^;

@marzz: yea try to get higher grit sandpaper! will make the surface much smoother as you work through the different grits ^^ and on sanded surface, ink will stick easily so watch where you add paint because it will be hard to remove.

  9. I’ve been searching for this exact info on this topic for a long time.
